Ozroth the Ruthless is used to making bargains for souls and has a reputation of being ruthless and merciless in his attempts to get souls. The small-town-with-magic setting is just as charming as the characters and made me want to visit Glimmer Falls. Mariel then ups the magical mishaps when she tries to use magic to summon an ingredient for cooking and accidentally summons a demon, Ozroth (H).

I thought I was going into a light and funny paranormal romance and yes, there's plenty of light, sweet, and funny, but some heaviness does get introduced. That enemies to lovers - force proximity, fake relationship tropes blended in environmental messages perfectly! Mariel accidentally summons Ozroth, creating an unbreakable attachment between the two until she bargains away her soul. Mariel finds spell work impossible and accidentally summons a demon for a soul bargain whilst trying to bake! Join us for a fantastic evening with bestselling author of A Witch's Guide to Fake Dating a Demon, and A Demon's Guide to Wooing a Witch, Sarah Hawley.Sarah Hawley is the author of A Witch’s Guide to Fake-Dating a Demon and A Demon’s Guide to Wooing a Witch. But Ozroth has a limited amount of time to strike the deal, and if Mariel gives up her soul, she’ll lose all her emotions – including love – which will only spell disaster for them both. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Too insta love, too convoluted for no reason, too YA (He's 200, she's 28), too predictable without the benefit of a fun journey to get there. They keep Ozorth’s identity as secret because Mariel has no intention to declare her incompetence to her mother! I loved this book so freaking good, a breath of fresh air that had me laughing out loud and swooning between pages.I don't want this to come off as prudish and I don't want to spoil anything, but there were elements of this book that made it seem like self-insert fan fiction, or maybe a Wattpad serial. This is more of a personal preference but I hate when books take modern day technology/objects and alter the name to make it sound more mystical. There was also a lot of growth from our FMC, which I was so happy to see, as well as some very positive messaging, especially near the end. I understand that it was necessary for her mother to be that way but honestly we did NOT need that many scenes with her mother present.

But, when he’s summoned to Mariel, he’s in for a struggle because Mariel has no intention of making a deal with Ozroth.Ozroth can't leave Mariel's side until they complete a bargain, which she refuses to do (turns out some humans are attached to their souls).

What if this brooding, charismatic demon is more connected with human feelings and his last chance to stay at his position is luring that powerful witch and taking her soul to prove his value to his mentor! The book starts with Ozroth the Ruthless having recently acquired one (1) human soul which is a pretty bad deal for any self-respecting demon. But Ozroth has a limited amount of time to strike the deal, and if Mariel gives up her soul, she’ll lose all her emotions—including love—which will only spell disaster for them both.
