Description

Normalize files for maximum gain, split them into smaller chunks, and even insert up to 99 marks per recording.

The H5 provides four tracks of simultaneous recording and, like the flagship H6, it can use all Zoom interchangeable input capsules, allowing you to choose the best microphone for every recording situation. The pick up is better than my NTG2 shotgun mic and that NTG is also improved when plugged into the H5. These inputs have an input gain of infinity to 55dB, with PAD off, and infinity to 35dB, with PAD on. Each H5 input has its own dedicated gain control knob, located beneath a protective bar that prevents accidental movement during handling.Slightly too large to consider “pocket size”, the Zoom H5 still fits easily in your hand, and weighs less than your average cup of takeaway coffee. Recording directly to 16MB to 2GB SD card, 4GB to 32GB SDHC card, or 64GB to 128GB SDXC card, the H6 records up to 24-bit/96kHz in BWF-compliant WAV format, or 48 to 320kbps in MP3 format.

Aimed at broadcast, journalism and live performance applications, H1n has an inbuilt X/Y microphone layout with a maximum SPL of 120dB, to capture stereo sound with sample rates of 44. The H5’s XLR/TRS combo inputs can handle both mic- and line-level signals for microphones, wireless receivers, mixers, keyboards and more. Maximize portability by recording directly to an SD card (up to 2GB capacity) or SDHC card (up to 32GB capacity). AA batteries will let you record for 10 hours continuously, and you can use an optional AD-17 AC adapter to record for as long as you want. Included accessories: Padded shell case, microUSB cable, AD-17 power adapter, foam windscreen, 2x AAA batteries, quick start guide.By comparison, you could have an entire band play music, and record them using the H5’s XY mic, and it would sound amazing.

I used to get a far better battery life out of it while using it with only the XY mic, while I noticed it eating a lot more power using an XLR mic like the Rode NTG-2. The supplied XYH-5 X/Y capsule also provides a secondary input for connecting stereo mic- or line-level signal via mini phone jack. In a lot of ways the H5 is similar to the popular H6 by Zoom but is better for users who don't need all of the H6's inputs. In a smaller room, or a treated room, it is perfect at about half a meter away from the speaker, or closer. Audio is more than 50% of a video, and Zoom H5, and even the tiny Zoom H2n can help with that a lot.I'm afraid Similar units like Tascam won't be a big of a difference in that manner as an alternative.
